As part of the 2026 fall/winter jazz series, Creative Sanctuary is excited to honor Thelonious Monk a day after what would have been his 110th birthday. Trombonist/Vocalist James Zeller will host with Jenny Scheinman on violin, Saul Smith Stewart on double bass, Ramsey Isaacs on drums, and Matthew Seno on piano. 

"Talking about music is like dancing about architecture", Monk once said. What to say about his music in the context of this show? All participants are very excited to dig into the repertoire of this titan of 20th century music. Monk himself was a huge fan of Duke Ellington, and like Duke Monk wrote music that creates its own world of sound, instantly recognizable.…
